To begin to quickly fix bad credit, you will first have to order a new copy of your credit report from Equifax, either online, by telephone, or in writing. The reason why you have to order your credit report before attempting to fix your bad credit is that Equifax needs to set up a file for you and issue you a Report Confirmation Number. This personal Report Confirmation Number will help Equifax to more easily access your file as well as serve as a second form of security to protect your identity, especially if that is your main concern. Even if your credit is repaired with one credit repository or bureau, data stored with the other bureaus are left unchanged. Therefore, in order to quickly fix your credit, you must separately contact the three main credit bureaus – TransUnion, Equifax, and Experion (formally TRW) independently. However, you may also need to contact a forth credit bureau, CSC Credit Services, out of Dallas, Texas, which also owns credit files.

Fixing bad credit takes between 30 to 45 days from the date Equifax receives your dispute until a determination is made. Sometimes, however, cases are resolved in less time.
